Become a Network “hub”
Picture a map of the country with colored pushpins representing the locations of active Network members. Imagine the lines that connect each of these “hubs” with all the others. With nearly 1,000 oncologists, social workers, survivors, researchers and health activists on our mailing list in just 8 months of operation, we have the potential to create such a network of collaboration today. Already, we have active members in New York City, Omaha, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Boston and Kalamazoo. Please consider creating or becoming a “hub” where you live or work, serving as the local resource for the Network. Help us connect to the providers and LGBT cancer survivors in your part of the country. Become a local expert on cancer in the LGBT community. When requests come in for presentations in your area, help us organize our trip or give the presentation yourself, using our curriculum and support. To become a local “hub” of the National LGBT Cancer Network, contact Liz Margolies, LCSW, Executive Director, for more information. It is a great way to get more involved in the Network and connect with others who also want to make a difference in the lives of LGBT people with cancer and those at risk. Check out our website for more information about the education, advocacy and training work of the Network. Board of Directors
On June 9th, the National LGBT Cancer Network held its very first meeting of the Board of Directors, electing the officers who will help guide the organization. Please welcome Maxine Blake (President), Nancy Wackstein (Vice President), Cassie DuPrey (Secretary), Lois Rice (Treasurer), Andy Miller, Michael Pierce and Becky Allegretto. We have space for one more Director. Please contact us if you are interested in participating . Recent Presentations
In the last few months, the National LGBT Cancer Network has been quite active, giving presentations around the country. In the last month alone, we have presented at
